YOUR BOOKCASE: FINN

"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair."

- Charles Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities (1859)

OVERCROWDED

And here he comes: Finn. The man from Wigtown whom everyone should meet. Chiara and I have fallen for him since the first day he entered "The Open Book" and welcomed us with a box of second-hand books. Apart from being our personal book refiller, Finn is also former vice chair of Wigtown Book Festival Trust and English teacher in Barcelona, dairy farmer, perfect Jeep driver in the Scottish rain, great food dispenser, amazing problem solver. Above all, he is a lovely father of four children and a charming man you would never get tired to talk with.
Oh, yes, I should speak about his bookcase... Chaos. This is how he defines it and I totally agree. But I guess he would be able to find everything in it.

The three titles he chose:

1. A TALE OF TWO CITIES
Charles Dickens (1859)

2. OUR MAN IN HAVANA
Graham Greene (1958)

3. THE RIDDLE OF THE SANDS
 Erskine Chindler (1903)

Finn remarks that he prefers books with a good plot. And he adds:
"Am I allowed to admit that I actually listened to, rather than read, the Dickens - I had it on my phone and would listen to it in the car every day for a month. Martin Jarvis is brilliant at narrating books - try it on Audible!"
Yes, Finn, you are allowed to say anything. So, for  you, I'll make an exception and consider the suggestion.

All the three books deal with a revolution and reveal an interest for historical settings. (Political) satire is involved. It wouldn't be Finn, if it wasn't. A subplot of adventure and love never misses, too.
Thank you, Finn. It is nice to see that you have such a great interest for espionage stories. You do actually look as a potential spy agent in disguise; and maybe you are. Who knows?

SOVRAFFOLLATA

Eccolo, finalmente: Finn!

1. RACCONTO DI DUE CITTA'
Charles Dickens (1859)

2. IL NOSTRO AGENTE ALL'AVANA
Graham Greene (1958)

3. L'ENIGMA DELLE SABBIE
Erskine Chindler (1903)
